*Every year the tour awards the Todd Shannon Memorial Rookie of the Year Award to a player with the most points who is between the ages of 14 and 16 and who is playing in the Junior Division for the first year.  Not only did Craig win this award, but Craig also won the Junior Division in his first attempt.  Great job, Craig.

Inaugural Pro-Junior Tournament

Jim Kenesky's vision and organization brought this event to fruition on Thursday, August 18 at Southbrook Golf and Country Club.  The format of the tournament was Stableford.  The winners were Pro Eric Ross with 41 points, and Jr. Tour player Brad Hildebrandt at 36 points in a playoff with John Majerovich who also had 36 points.  Team Brian McCann at 40 points and John Boncoddo at 35 had a team total of 75 and will have their names engraved on a trophy in memory of Paul Jamison, a former CPGA member who passed away from Cystic Fibrosis.  Brad Hildebrandt's win earned him a spot in a platinum Great Lakes Tour event in 2012. John Majerovich earned a spot in a one day Great Lakes Tour and Nic Ross who came in third will be invited to the CPGA's Pro-Junior Event in 2012.  Congratulations to all the players, and thanks to everyone involved for a superb event.

Tour Team Championships

Ian and Ruth Giles spent a great three days with four wonderful players--Craig Stefureak, Scott Nelson, John Majaerovich and Nic Ross--at the Ontario Tour Team Championships at Settler's Ghost in Barrie.  All four contributed to another Hamilton/Halton Junior Golf Tour team Championship win. Our team was 9 shots ahead of the next team, and Nic Ross won the low individual by one shot.  Our team ended up 7th in the Best Ball, but their commanding lead going into the day meant that they still won the overall by 7 strokes.  Way to go boys!

Golden Horseshoe Cup Results

WE DID IT!  The Golden Horseshoe Cup is no longer a “homer’s” series, as our 12 person team was victorious over the Niagara Jr. Tour’s team 24 points to 12.  In this match play event , a total of 3 points per game are awarded – 1 point for each front & back nine holes plus 1 point for an overall win. Half points are awarded in case of a tie over any 9 holes. Our 2 girls won 3 of 6 points; our bantams 6 of 6 points, our juveniles 2.5 of 6 points and for our 6 junior players – 12.5  of a possible 18 points. Some of these fine results were decided on the last putt on the last hole!  It was a great golf day at the beautiful Lookout Point Golf course. John White of the Niagara Tour was a superb host plus he was very gracious in accepting defeat! All of our players were congratulated for a great day of winning golf. Our team consisted of (in order of play): Girls - Lorelle Weavers, Kathleen McBarron; Bantams - Andrew Pearson, Luke Fantauzzo; Juveniles – John Majerovich & Craig Stefureak; Juniors Ron Foxcroft, Luke Atack, Nic Ross, Alex Furukawa, Zac Thompson, & Scott Nelson.
